What we do

How an acquisition works with us, from the first conversation to who runs the company afterwards.

Good businesses go unsold for reasons that have nothing to do with how good they are. Too small for one buyer, the wrong sector for another, the wrong shape for a process. Windbury looks at the companies other people have run out of time for, buys them with our own money alongside a small group of investors, and owns them.

  • What we buy

Established companies with a durable position in what they do. Size and sector matter less to us than whether the business has a reason to exist in ten years.

  • How we structure

Where the headline number matters to you, we can build consideration that respects it while sharing the risk of what comes next. Most buyers cannot or will not.

  • How we hold

Our own capital has no end date. We say at the outset how long we expect to hold and why, and we are not selling in year five because a term sheet says so.

  • For fund managers

We buy single companies from funds at the end of their life, including ones marketed before without finding a home. We understand the reporting position and will discuss structure early.

  • For owners

If you built the business, the terms of your exit matter as much as the price. Staged sales, retained stakes and staying on are all normal for us.

  • Who runs it

The existing team where they are staying, or an experienced managing director brought in with real equity where they are not. Either way the people running the company own part of it.
